The mayor of Potries visits the Citrosol facilities

Sergi Vidal has taken an interest in seeing the Valencian firm's new facilities following the fire in 2023.

Potries, March 10, 2026. On March 6, the mayor of Potries, Sergi Vidal, visited the facilities of the Valencian company Citrosol to see firsthand the company's new facilities following the fire in October 2023. He was welcomed by Jorge Bretó, CEO of Citrosol, and Juan José Moragués, Chairman of the Board of Directors.

During the visit, Jorge Bretó expressed his gratitude to the municipality of Potries and the institutions for their support throughout the reconstruction process. After his speech, the mayor met with Citrosol's management team and then toured the new facilities. The visit ended with a meeting to explore various forms of collaboration between the community and the company, which will be implemented gradually.

The mayor was able to see the renovation of the plant and the improvements made in terms of modernization, environmental sustainability, and safety, which were the result of the company's efforts following the fire.

Jorge Bretó took advantage of the visit by the mayor of Potries to express his gratitude to the entire town. After the fire that Citrosol suffered in October 2023, "we went through very difficult times, full of uncertainty. Those were complicated days for everyone. We know that it was also a time of great tension for the town itself." The residents of the nearest properties had to be evacuated from their homes as a precaution, "and we fully understand the concern that arose at that time. For this reason, we also want to express our regret for the anxiety and inconvenience that this situation may have caused." But, in the midst of such a difficult situation, Jorge Bretó stated that "we felt the solidarity of Potries very strongly."

The CEO of Citrosol explained that "every kind gesture, every word of encouragement, and every show of support gave us the strength to keep going. It was something that moved us deeply and that we will never forget." Bretó also thanked the mayor for his collaboration throughout the reconstruction process.

The final product manufacturing plant had been completely destroyed by the fire, "and its reconstruction had to be carried out practically against the clock, as the continuity of our business depended on it," explained Bretó.

After the fire, it was decided to stop manufacturing solvent wax at the Citrosol facilities, as this was one of the products that contributed to increasing the magnitude of the fire. The company decided to continue its activity in Potries, "appreciating what the municipality and its surroundings offer us and the historical connection we have with the area, committing to the reconstruction and continuity of the project in the municipality," explained Jorge Bretó.

He also emphasized that, thanks to the efforts of many people and this institutional collaboration, "today we can count on completely renovated facilities: a more modern and efficient plant, equipped with the most advanced fire safety measures." This, he explained, "allows us to work with greater guarantees and, above all, with the peace of mind of knowing that today our facilities are safer for everyone: for those who work here and also for our neighbors in Potries."

"It is sometimes said that even the most difficult situations can yield something positive. In our case, what has happened has allowed us to confirm something very important: the strong connection that exists between our company and the town of Potries," concluded Bretó. At the end of his speech, the mayor pointed out that the feelings were mutual.
