In Potríes (Valencia), June 6, 2024
After the accidental spillage of water mixed with chemical products into the Serpis River at Potríes, which took place on October 26, 2023 as a result of the extinction of the fire at our facilities, CITROSOL entrusted the evaluation of the ecological state of the river to the company GESNA Estudis Ambientals, SL, which has been carried out during the following months in a thorough manner, being able to conclude at the present date, that:
- The main effect on the ecosystem components analyzed is the reduction of fish populations (species diversity and abundance) downstream of the point where the spill occurred.
- The current physicochemical parameters that have been analyzed in the water are correct, and it can be seen that the recovery of the river's fish fauna has already begun naturally, and will increase in the coming months.
CITROSOL, in its commitment to the care of the environment and, as a responsible measure, has undertaken to carry out a periodic control of the situation of the river, in order to ensure that there is indeed a natural recovery of the fauna of the Serpis River.
We would also like to thank the City Council of Potríes and all those affected for their understanding and active collaboration throughout this process.

After the accidental spillage of water mixed with chemicals in the Serpis river at the height of Potries, which took place on October 26, 2023 as a result of the extinction of the fire that occurred in our facilities, CITROSOL entrusted the assessment of the ecological status of the river to the company GESNA Estudis Ambientals, SL., which has been carried out during the following months in a meticulous way, being able to conclude at the present date, that:
- The main effect detected in the ecosystemic components analyzed is the reduction of fish populations (diversity of species and abundance) in waters downstream of the point where the abocation occurred.
- The current physicochemical parameters that have been analyzed in water are correct, it can be seen how the recovery of the fish fauna of the river has already begun naturally, and will increase in the coming months.
CITROSOL, in its commitment to environmental care and, as a responsible measure, has undertaken to carry out a periodic control of the situation of the river, in order to ensure that there is a natural recovery of the fauna of the Serpis river.
The present communication also serves to send our gratitude to the City Council of Potries and all those affected, for their understanding and active collaboration throughout this process.
