Citrosol presents its solutions to reduce postharvest losses in avocado and limes at the Global Tropicals Congress

The Valencian company highlights at this international event its commitment to innovation and sustainability in the tropical fruit industry with its comprehensive solutions.

As part of the first edition of the Global Tropicals Congress, next Thursday, September 14 in The Hague (The Netherlands), Citrosol, a leading company in post-harvest solutions, will present its most advanced products and technologies to mitigate losses in the post-harvest of avocados and limes. This international congress, organized by Fruitnet in cooperation with Fruit Logistica, is presented as a promotional platform for suppliers of the sector that will bring together experts, companies and industry leaders to address crucial issues related to the value chain of tropical and exotic fruits.

Dr. Benito Orihuel, Citrosol's leading expert in post-harvest technology, will lead the presentation entitled "Minimizing losses in avocados (and limes), increasing profits and sustainability". The presentation will focus on the issue of an important, often underestimated, hidden loss that occurs in the avocado value chain: weight loss. Since avocado is a tropical fruit that can take up to 45 days from harvest to destination, weight losses can represent between 5% and 10% of its initial weight. Citrosol will address this problem with its innovative PlantSeal® Tropicals vegetable coating, which has been shown to reduce these hidden losses by approximately 50%. In addition to weight loss reduction, the PlantSeal® Tropicals coating also helps minimize the development of flesh necrosis, a common problem related to chilling injury in avocados.

Citrosol, a leading company in post-harvest solutions, will present its most advanced products and technologies to mitigate losses in the post-harvest of avocados and limes.

Industry data will also be presented to explain the international commercial success of the Valencian firm with the Citrocide® AVO system in the control of avocado spear mold. And, ultimately, the presentation will also highlight the application of PlantSeal® coatings on limes, which helps to slow down the rate of aging and control foot mold and rots in this fruit, thus improving its quality and increasing its shelf life.
