There is a great variability of practices in the postharvest of stone fruit, depending on the type of cultivar (each target fruit has different MRLs depending on the country of destination) and the packaging lines of each customer. Therefore, Citrosol studies each case and offers a tailor-made solution to achieve the best results.
In the postharvest treatment of pome fruit, water dumpers are commonly used during washing to reduce mechanical damage. In addition, fungicide treatments and coatings are applied to prevent the appearance of rotting, aging or blanching, in order to prolong their shelf life and reduce food waste.
Citrosol has developed the Citrocide® Fresh-Cut System for the hygienic washing of minimally processed fruits and vegetables (IV Range), which acts as a "firewall" preventing cross-contamination, improving food safety and reducing surface contamination, extending the shelf life of these ready-to-eat fruits and vegetables.
In the postharvest of tubers, mushrooms and fruits such as persimmon, melon, watermelon or banana, washing is a critical point for rot control and food safety, as it must achieve the inactivation or reduction of pathogenic microorganisms. Our solutions significantly reduce surface contamination by bacteria, fungi and yeasts present before and after washing.
Citrosol has developed the first complete range of products for the post-harvest treatment of citrus fruit certified as inputs for organic farming. It covers all phases of the citrus fruit post-harvest process with a fungistatic for rot control, a technological adjuvant for washing and a natural waxy coating.
