At Fruit Logista, the Citrosol team exhibited its extensive catalog of technological solutions and post-harvest treatments for fruit and vegetable produce.
The Berlin fair was, once again, held on its usual dates and, although the general attendance was a little lower than in pre-pandemic editions, Citrosol is delighted to have extracted a more than positive balance from its participation: “For us it continues to be a fundamental meeting point: three very intense days over which we hold numerous meetings with clients, distributors and suppliers from all over the world. We were been able to bring our principal new products to the fore and opened up possibilities for our future innovations”, stated the CEO of the company, Jorge Bretó .
Since the opening of the doors of this edition, the products in the Biocare by Citrosol line and the innovative CitroFy platform have taken pride of place on the stand of the Valencian brand where the team, recently joined by professionals from Fomesa and Brogdex Iberica, were able to attend to dozens of visitors interested in the catalog of the Potries firm.
Betting on Technology
As a first rate international showcase, Fruit Logistica has been the ideal setting for Citrosol to present CitroFy, a system that allows the connection of all the processes through which the fruit passes in real time and the control of the application parameters for the products, with access from almost any device with an internet connection whilst guaranteeing complete traceability.
The platform has aroused significant interest, especially among customers who already have other Citrosol systems, as “they understand that CitroFy is a technology that can provide a plethora of improvements in the field of information management and application process control” which, in addition, “offers greater peace of mind and considerably improved customer service”, highlights Raül Domínguez, Citrosol’s Application Systems Manager.
Rise of the ecological line
With a market increasingly determined to use treatments with lower residues, that comply with vegan requirements and that are certified as organic inputs, the Biocare by Citrosol range has risen to occupy a special place by responding to all these demands, according to the Technical Sales Director, Inma Navarro.
Within this line, solutions for the avocado continue to arouse great interest as the main exporting countries for this product with seemingly exponential growth are looking to satisfy increasingly demanding markets in which quality plays a determining role and which, in many cases, see the need for transport over long distances. “This brings particular relevance to the handling and post-harvest conditions of the avocado” and, for this reason all eyes are focusing on the Citrocide® Avocado System and PlantSeal® Tropicals, because, as the director of International Operations, Raúl Perelló, assuredly states, “they allow the doubling of the avocado’s commercial life, allowing it to reach distant destinations with greater guarantees and reducing shrinkage”.
The Citrocide® Avocado System is a technology for the hygienic washing of avocados that guarantees food safety by reducing surface contamination on the avocado and minimizing the risks of cross contamination. Furthermore, it can afford 100% reduction rates of peduncular mold after 25 days and 90% even after 40 days. PlantSeal® Tropicals, for its part, is a plant-based coating that effortlessly mitigates weight loss and improves avocado firmness during transport and distribution. Likewise, it has a high control over internal necrosis as a consequence of chilling injury and reduces that type of staining by up to 84%, keeping claims upon arrival or during distribution to an absolute minimum.
The Fresh Cut or minimally processed industry is one that responds to today’s consumer habits and, taking advantage of its full-on growth, Citrosol extolled its Citrocide® Fresh-Cut System in Berlin, an advanced system for hygienic washing of minimally processed fruit and vegetable produce — both whole and pre-cut— which is able to minimize the risk of cross-contamination during washing by keeping the washing water hygienic at all times. The Potríes company’s system not only allows total control to avoid contamination that could generate any type of health alert, but it has also validated water savings versus the use of a chlorinated disinfectant. “This means a significant reduction in your water footprint and also in water costs, but mainly in energy, especially taking into account the increase in electricity prices,” says Perelló.
